As I continue to do really well (no seizures in more than four weeks now) and gain energy and self-confidence in my largely self-administered healing program, I reached a key milestone in my journey today when I met with Dr. Saputo to review the results of a special blood test I initiated several weeks ago. At the time the blood was sent out, I was feeling quite well, and figured the time it would take to get the results would give me a good opportunity to research several well-recommended programs. I thought that this test would be the final piece of information I would need to decide what to do next. Amazingly, I continued to improve, despite the fact that I had received no treatment at all for my tumor for nearly a month. I worked on my Chi Gung practice and my mental attitude, and began to believe that my homegrown program was actually stemming the tide, where my previous treatments had not.

As we reviewed the results, Dr. Saputo could barely conceal his astonishment. On nearly everything tested, I was in the normal range or better, and Dr. Saputo characterized the results as those of someone who had a tumor that their immune system was successfully disposing of. I had been thinking for some time that perhaps I should stay on the course I am on until my next MRI in a month…knowing that if the results were good, it would encourage me to continue, and if not, I would at least know what was going on and could make choices accordingly. Dr. Saputo supported my position, feeling that self-healing was not only viable, but might actually be in progress in my case. So I have decided to move into a phase called "watchful waiting" in which I get regular MRIs every couple of months, but only submit to treatment if the MRI indicates it’s needed. Although the last MRI was disappointing, all the feedback I have gotten since (from cranial sacral workers, my Chi Gung teacher and my own body) suggests that the tumor is either shrinking or not growing…either of which would be a better result than I have had in the recent past with conventional treatment. So for a month, I’m going to keep doing what I have been, get an MRI and see what happens. Even if I swing and miss, I don’t feel like it will be the third strike. And it may even find the gap for a triple.

The only downside (if I could call it that) is the "Dan maintenance" involved, particularly since I have had some Chinese topical remedies added to my treatment program. Herewith, then, is A Day in the Life of Dan, where the secrets of self-healing are revealed.

6:15 AM – Wake up, start a saucepan with a quart of water to boil, grate 1/4 cup of ginger, place in a cheesecloth tied up in string, turn the boiling water to simmer, put in the ginger and set the timer to 45 minutes. If Ellen hasn’t already made it for me, make a cup of green tea.

7:00 AM – Place warm washcloth into the ginger water, squeeze out excess, fold and place on top of my head (where there used to be no hair at all but now shows signs of life) securing with a hand towel and a rubber-band.

7:15 – Remove cooled washcloth, rinse and place in hot ginger water, repeat last step.

7:30 – Make a smoothie with my morning supplements, whey protein, juice, fruit, soy milk and ice. Drink with "good intention" accepting it (and all medicines) as "nectar."

8:00 – Shower and take the morning supplements to be taken "after meals" and the six seizure pills.

8:30 – Perform Chi Gung program outside on the hill next to our house, balancing my "chi" with various elements, seasons, colors, body organs, compass directions and emotions. Complete by facing Mt. Tam and summoning the chi into my body, balancing it among the head and torso.

9:30 – Take the "killer cell" supplement as it wants to be taken 2 hours after other supplements.

10:00 – Mix up an Ultra-Clear (powdered metabolic detoxifier & fruit juice) and drink.

After lunch – Mix a combination of minced taro root, ginger and organic white flour into a sort of dough, have Ellen make into a hamburger-patty-like gob and place on my head, covered by a small piece of cloth and a baseball cap. Leave it there for two hours. Repeat. Take another "killer cell" supplement.

After dinner – Take my nighttime supplements, of which there are about a dozen.

Before bed – Perform Chi Gung program inside with a few candles lit on the breakfront in the dining room, where we have constructed a sort of "altar" with a Buddhist scroll, a Menorah, a crystal and some feathers.

At bedtime – Take the eight seizure pills I take at night plus a Tylenol PM. Receive Ellen’s prayers.

Throughout the day – Visualize the tumor being dismantled and carried out of my body.

Is it worth all this? Absolutely. Every minute of it.

Finally, even though the show may not be over yet…if you’ve ever said a prayer for me or sent me some healing energy, take a bow and accept my thanks. I don’t think I’d have gotten to where I am without you. Since this happened I’ve become a very serious student of life and have learned many lessons. Hopefully I will be fortunate enough to pass them on.

Peace and love,

Dan
